Anime - What's it All About?

If you're reading this right now, there's a good chance that you or someone you know enjoys watching anime. If by some rare chance you only have a vague idea of what anime is, allow me to briefly explain. Anime is essentially a style of animation that originated from Japan and throughout the years, has skyrocketed in popularity, especially among the younger generation. Many people who only know a little bit about anime assume that the only ones who enjoy it are nerdy Asian youth with nothing better to do than sit in front of a computer all day. This is probably the single largest misconception surrounding anime. In reality, people from all backgrounds and cultures can enjoy anime, and I'll explain why so many people are drawn into watching it day after day.

So, what makes anime popular, and why do so many people from all over the world spend so much of their time watching it? I don't believe that there's an exact answer to this question. However, one of the things that I feel makes anime very different from your typical Saturday morning cartoon is that there's just so much variety in anime. The storylines are more detailed, many people would argue that the animation is done better, and the extensive character development makes the fans crave for episode after episode. I do know for sure that any hardcore anime junkie (what one normally calls an anime fan) would agree with me on these points.

Some people might have heard their friends mention the action-adventure anime Naruto or Bleach and be under the assumption that all anime is similar to those series. Nothing could be further from the truth. While Naruto and Bleach are without a doubt two of the most popular anime series out at the moment in 2008, there are many others that are completely different. Say for example that you enjoy watching mysteries or Sherlock Holmes' style shows. One of the many mystery anime series out there is called Detective Conan. It is on-going and presently has over 500 episodes. It's probably one of the most well-written anime series that I've ever seen, and I've seen my fair share of anime. Craving a thriller? Something suspenseful? Check out the anime series Death Note. A mix between fantasy and psychological warfare, Death Note is definitely one anime you need to take a look at. Seen it already? Not to worry, there's always more. Code Geass is the complex tale of a young student's dream to reclaim his country back from the clutches of an evil organization - using military strategies and tactics. Maybe you'd rather watch something light, perhaps maybe a romance or a drama. Some of the more notable romance anime include Ai Yori Aoshi, Love Hina, Nodame Cantabile, Kanon, and Honey and Clover. I'd love to list them all out for you, but that would take quite a while. Love triangles, mysteries, dramas, action, history, suspense, fantasy - the list goes on and on. If it's something you can think of, there'll be an anime for it. Enjoy playing mahjong? Check out the anime Akagi. Like playing sports? Slam Dunk for the basketball fans, Major for the baseball players. Play in the orchestra or enjoy classical music? Check out Nodame Cantabile. How about something random, like vampires? - try Hellsing or Trinity Blood, just to name a few. I could keep going, but the list would go on and on. Basically, the point I want to get across is that if you just sit down and take the time to watch a few episodes of anime, I'm sure that you can find something that you'll enjoy.

Gerard Butler - Lawyer to Actor to Stardom

Digging through the layers of the ever changing and unpredictable world of showbiz on the quest to stardom we find Scottish actor Gerard Butler at the forefront. Butler the star of Zack Snyder's 300 as King Leonidas, didn't start out as an actor in fact he earned a law degree from the Glasgow University and just one week before being qualified as a lawyer he was fired from the law firm he was working at. Shortly after that while sitting in a coffee shop in London he was approached by Steven Berkoff who offered him a role in the play "Coriolanus" he left law behind and his acting career was born.

The charisma filled and talented Mr. Butler landed acting jobs along the way, but it wasn't until Joel Schumacher cast him in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera as the Phantom that his career began to take flight. Though Butler's fan base doubled after the Phantom, critics couldn't seem to give the 35 year old actor any breaks. Continuing this up hill climb Gerard Butler garnished the lead role of Beowulf in Sturla Gunnarsson's epic feature Beowulf and Grendel, filmed in the mountains of Iceland. Jon Gustafsson, an Icelandic director, had a small role in the film as one of Beowulf's warriors; he also was filming his award winning documentary Wrath of Gods about the story behind the filming of Beowulf and Grendel and while on the set engaged Butler in a rare and candid hour long interview about his role as Beowulf and acting in general. He later joined Gustafsson as co-producer of Wrath of Gods.

Butler's next role pushed him ahead and gave him Hollywood status, King Leonidas in 300. 300 made him a house hold name, and his career has escalated with one new film after the other the latest being P.S, I love you with Hillary Swank and Nims Island with Jodi Foster. From lawyer to actor from independent to Hollywood, from unknown to stardom Gerard Butler is on his way to making it big and his seed of fame has gone through a lot of dirt to bloom.

TV on Internet is Like Water in the Ocean

TV on the Internet is nowadays, like water in the ocean. It is indeed such a natural concept and technological achievement that some of the most influential media in the word are finally joining forces together, providing content and opportunities that where simply unthinkable only a decade ago.

Of course, the speed of the connections, the more powerful computers and the larger amount of money spent on per click advertising, made all of this possible and happening so fast. Today, some people don't even watch TV anymore. As some of their favorite TV shows are already available online, put there by the same broadcast channels. This gives a much bigger flexibility in choosing the perfect time to watch a particular show, without having to worry about running home or record it. Of course, the amount of advertising that breaks the content flow is dramatically reduced, bringing a much more relaxed and pleasant view.

TV on Internet makes so much sense that computers and TV sets are more and more compatible and often interchangeable. Almost as there were only one sole medium. TV on the Internet is making all of this happening and in the years to come, we will be able to take full advantage of such interaction. The easiness of using together TV and online based features goes beyond simply watching a TV show on a computer screen, it is indeed a true technological revolution of the new millennium. So, don't be afraid to experiment, log in and look for your TV Channel.

Internet Live TV Will Let Us Interact

One of the most groundbreaking concepts of Internet TV, it's definitely the possibility of adding Internet live TV. Although not yet fully implemented or used, such opportunity represents the future of TVs, Internet and the media in general. The concept of watching real-time programs, news, sports events is absolutely powerful and will allow to use portable devices, as smart phones and the last generation of laptops. No more worries about losing a game or a live concert.

The applications of this technology are without limits, and this is why broadcast channels and media in general, although very interested and fully active on the Internet, still haven't figured out a safe and a economically feasible way to broadcast live, without jeopardizing the advertising system that they created in the traditional TV world. The major problem with real-time TV is that there are not yet enough advertisers ready to invest large amount of money However, Internet live TV is probably only a few years away from becoming the number one advertising catcher in the media word.

The opportunity of getting a real-time audience, simultaneously throughout the world and at the same time, giving them the opportunity to click on whatever is advertised, is simply the most powerful tool ever imagined. Internet live TV is definitely the future of our life and our culture. We will be actively interacting with the show that we'll be watching, giving us a front seat with every powerful bottoms to push. This is the future and it's already happening.Watch Live TV Online
