Slumdog Millionaire

At last it has culminated with the ultimate triumph!

"Slumdog Millionaire", which was nominated for 10 Academy Awards made a great run by sweeping away 8 Oscars, including that of the 'Best Film'. Danny Boyle won the award for Best Director, Simon Beaufoy for Best Adapted Screenplay, Chris Dickens for film Editing, Anthony Dod Mantel for cinematography. Sound mixing award was shared with Rasool Pookutty, Ian Tapp and Richard Pryke.A R Rahman, the Indian musician won two awards- The Best Music Score Award and also for the Best Song shared with lyricist Gulzar.

For the past few months, there were also a lot of criticism and controversy going around this film on the view that the film depicted the lives of impoverished India, and also regarding the treatment of cast. It also faced criticism regarding the welfare aspects of its child actors. The director had to face accusations from some Indian media that his film was 'poverty porn'. But according to Danny Boyle, it was an endeavor to capture Mumbai's 'Lust for life. The real controversy started with the comments in the blog of the legendary Indian actor Amitab Bachan. Following this; many more from the Indian film industry came forth with their critical views. Apart from the treatment of the film, issues also aroused that the compensation provided for the child actors were unfair.Another controversy was that the Co-Director of the film Mrs. Loveleen Tandan wasn't included as co-nominee for the awards. This controversy even turned to the moods of Women Rights issue.

Leaving all these controversies apart and viewing it as a piece of art, the film is one of the riveting and the best portrayed films in recent times."Slumdog Millionaire" which was actually filmed based on the novel of the Indian Author and diplomat Vikas Swarup named"Q&A". The novel which delineated the exploitation and misery of orphans children, was exquisitely portrayed into the celluloid by the British Director- Danny Boyle.Even Vikas Swarup wouldn't had expected such a beautiful and realistic illustration of his work.

The film beautifully renders major social aspects like Poverty, Orphan hood, riots, child harassment, under world, begging, brothel-houses, urbanization, cricket etc through a beautifully illustrated love story.

The story is of an 18 year old Jamal Malik's journey from the slushy waste dump Slum in Mumbai to a hot seat of the Quiz Show -"Who wants to be a Millionaire" -The story moves with his progress in the show as he answers correctly. The reason how a primary school drop out Jamal Malik reaches the answers rightly, where even high qualified professionals failed to do, is the core of the film. Even the quiz master and the official law enforcement authorities turns suspicious on this. But,the answers were actually linked to incidents in the life of Jamal. The other protagonists in this film are Jamal's brother Saleem and their childhood friend Lathika, for whom Jamal had a never ending adoration. The film conveys all the sufferings they had to face in their life with a realistic diction- the communal riots which made them orphans, the nightmarish world they had to spent with child beggars, the life in the streets and their striving for existence-even to an extend of killing for subsistence, the real picture of brothel houses, the rivalry, the separations, the longing despair etc.The film actually ends with the message that the ultimate triumph is only for true love and honesty.

Apart from Danny Boyle's direction, the screen play of Simon Beaufoy, the editing of Chris Dickens, the cinematography of Anthony Dod Mantel and the music score of A.R Rahman were exemplary and can be attributed to the reason for this film to win such an applause. Another main highlight of the film is the lifelike performance of the actors, especially the child actors. The performance of Ayush Mahesh Khedekar, Tanay Chheda and, Dev Patel as Jamal in various ages, and Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail, Ashutosh Lobo Gajiwala and Madhur Mittal as Salim in various ages, Rubina Ali, Tanvi Ganesh Lonkar and Frieda Pinto as Lathika had contributed to a great extend in maintaining the realism of the film. The credit of their casting goes to the Co-director of the film Loveleen Tandan, especially for her finding of three kids who did the youngest part of the three central characters. In fact, Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail and Rubina Ali were actually found from the slums of Mumbai.

The Movie "The Secret" Left Out Lots

The Law of Attraction principles were explained well in the movie, The Secret. It was great at showing that you must get clear of old beliefs that are preventing you from rising above the level where you are now. It was excellent at showing the fact that manifesting anything comes down to a formula.

But, it didn't really tell you HOW to put the Law of Attraction into action. Manifesting abundance into reality takes proper visualization and action.

The formula to putting the principles into action is ASK - BELIEVE - RECEIVE. Some people find that doesn't work and those are the ones who write the negative stuff about the law. Bu then, of course, SIT - WISH - HOPE doesn't work at all.

Taking proper action involves two parts. The first is to ask yourself WHY you want it in the first place. If you have passion and excitement for what you want, then your emotions will boost your attracing power. If you just need more money or a better car, you may not have enough "oomph" to make the attracted energy come into matter.

It is your feelings and emotions that add to your thoughts to give the necessary higher energy to attract and bring them into manifestation.

The second part of action is believing that you can actually have it. You don't have to set a goal. You may not know how in the world you're going to accomplish it, but that isn't up to you anyway. Your job is to accept that it can be yours, and give yourself permission to have it.

Traditional goal setting presents your goals to your subconscious in a non-compelling way. Your subconscious doesn't really pay attention and soon you go back to old behaviors.

It's important HOW you present your desires to your subconscious.

* When you focus on your goals, they are external, they aren't in your gut, your heart; they're only words on paper, and it's hard to get excited about words on paper
* Usually it feels like work--it's boring--it's an unexciting process and takes the joy out of it
* You have too many targets to keep track of at one time
* Adding the date for accomplishment lets your subconscious think it has all the time in the world
* Put the date on ACTIONS you will take--by tomorrow you'll have made X number of phone calls

Your subconscious works very well with pictures. You can make a movie in your mind about all your desires. Make them already here. See yourself pulling your new car out of your new home and driving by your neighbors who watch with envy as you go to your new workplace. Play this movie several times a day. By adding in each one of your desires as if they are already accomplished, your subconscious gets to work to attract the positive energy to make it reality.

Breaking a Leg Still "Good Luck" in Hollywood?

The Short Film "Paging David Cronenberg" stars Veronica Grey and Paul Bubbo.
It is 7:23 minutes long, in honor of one of their Hero's birthday - Martin Gore of Depeche Mode, who is born on July 23 or 7/23.
The Project was born from Several Ideas, linked to Martin Scorsese's "Departed" and Peter Jackson's "Lord of the Rings."

Veronica, who has been paying Her Dues as an Actress in Hollywood since her Teens in 1996, was in 2006 mentored by a couple named Marc and Elaine Zicree.

In September 2006, The Zicrees suggested that Veronica follow the example set by Elijah Wood, star of MegaBlockbuster Trilogy "The Lord of the Rings."

The Zicrees told Veronica that when Elijah heard that Peter Jackson was going to shoot "Lord of the Rings," Elijah (who was Relatively Unknown at the time) got his friend Sean Astin (supposedly washed-up child actor) and they shot a short film of one of the scenes from the book by J.R.R. Tolkien.

They got the short film to Mr. Jackson.

Long story short, Mr. Jackson, who had intended to originally cast only UK based actors, was so impressed with Their Efforts that he flew to Los Angeles to meet Elijah and Sean, and the rest is Film History.

This story is legendary among actor wannabes in Hollywood, as Acting Teachers tell this Inspiring Story in their Classes to Encourage their Students.

Apparently Vera Farmiga did the same thing as Elijah Wood and that is how she got her part in "The Departed" by Martin Scorsese.

Doesn't anyone ever wonder how a Relative Unknown gets to do love Scenes opposite both Leonardo DiCaprio AND Matt Damon?

So the Zicrees encouraged Veronica to pick Her Favorite Director, and Get SOMETHING to Him, rather than continue "throwing a bunch of work out there randomly hoping something sticks."

Well that was a No-Brainer.
Easy.
David Cronenberg. He was born on 3/15, and Veronica on 3/14.
Plus some of Her Top Favorite Movies of All Time were Directed by Him:
"eXistenZ," "Scanners," and "Naked Lunch," to name a Few.
And she had had the Opportunity to meet Him twice in Person already.

The first Time was in September 2005, at the Getty Center, when Cronenberg hosted a screening of Fellini's "La Dolce Vita" at the Skirball Center in Los Angeles.
Veronica found the film "too long" and left to go wander around in the middle of Skirball.
Who should she bump into in the Hallway, where they would be left alone to have a meaningful exchange?

You got It. Mr. Cronenberg. His first words to her were "scolding" her for walking Out of the Film.

She met Him again in January 2006, just a few months later, in Palm Springs, when Mr. Cronenberg was presented with the Visionary Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival.

So Veronica felt positive that if she created a piece of film, She could get at Least "Get It" to Him.
She kept an Eye on Mr. Cronenberg's IMDB page to see what His Upcoming Projects would be.

"London Fields" by Martin Amis was set to go into Production by Muse Productions. Turns out Veronica actually has acquaintances at Muse, since they released "Spun" which was written by her friend Will De Los Santos and scored by her colleague Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins.

Veronica was extra excited because Muse Productions is located literally steps from Her Own Townhouse in Venice, California.

And so a Short Film Was Born in October 2006, only One Month after the Zicrees suggested It. They took some pages from "London Fields" and added a few homages that only Mr. Cronenberg, or His Fans, would "get."

It was never shot with ANY commercial purpose. Simply a Labor of Love to get to Mr. Cronenberg while allowing Divine Will to take Its course.

Co-stars in the Film include Paul Bubbo and Chris DeWolf. It was edited by Roberto Jimenez and Produced by Michael L. Lynch.

On the day of Shooting which began at 5am, it was so dark, that Veronica could not see the bottom step and twisted her ankle badly.
She considered it a Great Omen for "breaking a leg."

So if You watch the Film, notice her limping along if You look closely.

Music by Brian Hyland, Billy Corgan, and Madonna are in the Short Film (40 Seconds of It may be Viewed on Myspace.com/3Fifteen.)

Meanwhile, according to IMDB, "London Fields" is no longer on Mr. Cronenberg's plate, as is the Nature of the Industry; however, "Paging David Cronenberg" indeed premiered at the Cannes Film Festival 2008 and has brought Good Luck to Veronica Grey.
