Love Happens - I'm Waiting

The recent release of Love Happens does leave a warm and fuzzy feeling. You will want to hug your significant other, if not,at least your dog or cat. Love Happens is a good movie with the usual message "it can happen to you". I'm still waiting.

Jennifer Aniston and Aaron Eckhart both give subdued performances as the lovers in waiting. Brandon Camp does a credible job as director and writer, with the help of co-author Mike Thompson.

The plot revives around self help guru Burke (Eckhart) and Eloise (Aniston) a florist. Burke is in Seattle to give a seminar and sees Eloise in the lobby of his hotel. The next day he approaches her and tries to start a conversation, she blows him off pretending not to speak English. Undeterred and slightly irritated he confronts her the next day. Great scene where she follows him into the mens room and they have it out.

The back story, Eloise has no luck with men, losers, and she's sworn off relationships and Burke's wife died in a tragic car accident. More to follow on that...

By now, intrigued by each other they both set out exploring the relationship. More plot twists ensue, and you learn Eloise's fascination with obscure words and Burke's persona as a self help guru.

The interesting part of the plot is that as the relationship develops they both plumb their own past. Eloise has made some poor choices and attachment to musician types hasn't worked out well at all. Burke confronts his own demons and tries to come to terms with the "truth" about his wife's death.

Yes the ending is predictable, but still endearing. Love Happens, when you least expect it, even if your not ready. It will still leave you with a sense of anything is possible.

Aaron Eckhart is good as the tortured soul grieving over the loss of his wife. It's his best performance since, Thank You For Smoking. Jennifer Aniston is good as the woman who has lost faith in men. Her confusion over the relationship and trying to embrace the chance she is being given is well played. Jennifer Aniston's recent film , He's Just Not That Into You , is another favorite about relationships.

Love Happens is another feel good movie that has some interesting twists. I think it's must see movie and I'll probably buy the DVD. The bottom line is Love Happens, you just never know when or how, even if you're not ready. I'm waiting.
